Data Science is an important area in IT, AI and business. It facilitates the IT industry by extracting incessant volumes of data and information, swiftly processing it, interpreting and formulating results, thereby making our livelihood processes easier through the advent of digital services. Data scientists tend to work on and develop algorithms, deep learning and machine learning programs, to effectively comprehend and utilize the expanse of data. Such endeavours create effective decision-making tools/solutions and add more value to aspiring businesses. The relevance of Data Science has significantly risen and companies/organizations are on the constant lookout for professionals who can provide them with the latest solutions and networking tools, required to cope with the current standards of development and globalization.

Throughout my academic and professional career, I have indulged in projects, work-environments, diploma courses and certain extra-curricular ventures, all of which have significantly added to my knowledge-base and skills that are required to pursue higher studies in Data Science. I passed my 10th boards (matriculation) exam from ………………………………………………………………………………. in ………. with a score of ……… I passed my intermediate exam from ……………………………………. in ………. with a score of ……………… I went on to graduate from the department of CSE (Computer Science and Engineering), in ….. with a score of ………. I learnt some basics about data interpretation, coding and software engineering during my graduation period, after which I moved on to hone my skills through indulgences in extra courses and projects, all of which pertains to the foundations of Data Science. But, before delving into such details, I shall briefly state my reasons for traveling to the USA.

The USA is well-regarded as the inception point of the digital revolution. It is undoubtedly the global torch bearer of domains such as IT, IoT and Data Science. The emergence and expansion of tech giants, like Apple, Microsoft, Google, Meta, is simply beyond astounding. I look forward to visiting Silicon Valley, which is truly the mammoth of sites pertaining towards the field. The wheel of progress is constantly spinning there, with frequent research and innovation. As a student, I would be able to enjoy this unique opportunity of conducting field-visits and learning about the discipline with profound insights and greater understanding. I would even get an in-sight into the dynamics of the entire industry. Tech professionals and public figures will also be present there, with whom I can have beneficial conversations with. Such opportunities are unique to the USA, especially for students who pursue higher studies in IT, AI, Data Science, Computer Science and Robotics Engineering, as compared to other countries.

The USA is also renowned for its provisions of world-class educational facilities and this university is a stark example of the same. The campus is suited to meet every academic requirement of students, ranging from policy-based provisions to infrastructural facilities and health-aid. What seemed particularly attractive to me was the practical orientation of its curriculum, wherein theory and practice have been merged/bridged together adequately, covering every necessary ground for the course. For better clearance, I contacted their alumni, who had collectively shared some great feedback regarding the faculty’s expertise, transparency in learning, inclusive environment and a serene atmosphere for the maintenance of a stress-free mind. Such factors have all contributed to my decision of traveling to the USA to pursue higher studies.

Apart from the basic subjects that I have studied during my graduation-period, I would like to place special emphasis on my extra-curricular ventures, diploma courses, projects and work-experiences, all of which reflects my developed potential to pursue a career in Data Science. I have been entitled as a Cloudera Certified Associate (CCA) Data Analyst by Nokia Networks Pvt Ltd and the best programmer among interns (batch ……….) in Python by the same company. I received a certification for deploying an AWS application to the Cloud with Docker by Linkedin Learning and also received a certificate in Robotic Process Management (RPA) by Smart Bridge.

I completed three projects. The first one was on the development of a method/system for a vehicle driver’s eye-closure and yawing detection, caught by an infrared camera. It was to detect drowsiness of a driver while being mobile on the road. The second project was on Email Automation using Blue Prism. With the help of robotic process automation tools, we were able to send mails to over thousands of people at the same time without having to type in their mail IDs. The task was accomplished by creating an excel sheet (consisting of every user’s mail IDs) and uploading the same to the automation tool. The third project was on Physical Activity Fitness using Machine Learning. It explored actual work wellness by utilizing AI as a space, where AI calculations and strategies were applied to examine and foresee different parts of active-work and wellness levels. It conjoined information from wearable gadgets, wellbeing and wellness applications, along with different sources to acquire bits of knowledge/data into people’s action designs, practice execution, and general wellbeing.

As part of my noteworthy achievements, I won a gold medal in Q2 results. It was an event that inspected or observed the performance of employees and is conducted by Nokia Networks every year. I used to be awarded the title ‘Man of the Match’ in several cricket tournaments held at college. I also won a silver medal in a chess league that was conducted by the Rotaract Club of Andhra Pradesh. I had also participated in the “Trendzie’22” conducted by Mozilla Club of CSE department, wherein I was ranked 3rd among 400 other participants. I also participated in Scilab Training at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, with a special course material provided by the Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay.

I completed my 11-month internship period at ……….. Networks Pvt Ltd, based in …………. from August ……. to July ………… It was a paid internship wherein I earned 25000 INR per month. I was a part of the SCD (Service and Care Delivery), Subscriber and Signaling team. We basically worked on subscriber data management projects for our client, Vodafone Australia. The project lasted for a period of 6 months. I worked as their back-end programmer and solution architect, wherein we worked on a linux environment. I had also undergone training on Core Python and Machine Learning, for a period of 4 months and further dedicated 1 month to learn major cloud applications like Docker, Kubernetes andDevops. So, the internship period significantly honed my expertise and skills in Core Python, Devops, Machine Learning and other practical applications.

I was able to develop certain skills in leadership through my indulgences in such active work-environments. Sometimes, I used to partake in lead roles at certain periods and provide the team with solutions. Having worked with a collective of people to accomplish a variety of tasks have indeed heightened my managerial and analytical skills, all of which shall serve greatly in my future endeavors too. Certain indulgences have also added to my community-based experiences. For instance, I worked as a volunteer at Help N Hope in Visakhapatnam. The NGO was established by 10 enthusiastic graduates who dedicated their professional lives to community welfare. The main objective of the organization was to provide financial assistance to underprivileged students belonging to poverty-stricken backgrounds. During my time as a volunteer, we had successfully adopted 20 students and provided financial assistance for their education. The experience taught me the importance of educational accessibility, inclusive social policies, community-building and unity in diversity.

I believe education is the only thing that can help our society grow, develop and solve persistent issues. The power of knowledge is infinite/endless. I always hold the values of perseverance and punctuality close to me, as I move on to learn about life, explore my paths and relearn things to innovate the conventions that seem somewhat problematic in our modern-day’s context. In short, I believe in the values of learning, because if we stop at one point we can never adhere to the current problems of our contemporary times, where digitization is one immensely expanding phenomenon.

My career goal is to contribute towards my home-country’s innovations in IT. India is about to emerge as one the world’s largest data-driven (intensive) economies. With that being said, the need for professionals in the sector has significantly risen. With my current experiences, existent set of skills, knowledge and foreign-affiliated degree, I believe it would be somewhat easier for me to get a job here, as employers prefer foreign degree holders with unique experiences. My interest to pursue higher studies in Data Science also stems from my interest in the areas of statistics and probability, in which I secured maximum marks during my graduation-period (first and second semester to be precise). So, I am positive about indulging in active work environments to deliver efficiency to the best of my effort and thrust innovation.
