Sample of statement of purpose for Computer Science in International University

We live in an age where the relevance and utility of computers is unparalleled. The discipline of Computer Science is highly necessary in this present age because every sector is shifting towards virtual platforms and prefer using digital services to cope with the rising tide of development/progress. The current demand for IT and data professionals is massive, mainly because companies require extensive networking and decision-making tools through the aid of digital services/technologies. My interest to pursue higher studies in the discipline of Computer Science basically stems from my academic background, which is in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). I have further elaborated my educational details, diploma courses, achievements and professional ventures underneath, to reflect my existent knowledge-base and skill-set required to excel in the aforementioned discipline.

I passed my matriculation from …………………. in ……….. with a score of ……CGPA. I passed my intermediate exam after two years, in ……… from …………… with a score of …….. I went on to finish my graduation from ……………. and Technology, in …… with an annual score of …….. CGPA. I graduated from the department of Computer Science and Engineering, so I have basically covered every basic/fundamental subject that is required to form my potential and acquaint myself with this course.

I have chosen the USA to pursue higher studies for specific reasons. One is my own personal dream to travel to the States. I was always fascinated with the country’s way of life. Such influences came from my consumption of Western media, films, literature and music. My other reason is the fact that the USA provides world class educational facilities, in every department, ranging from the social sciences to IT and Computer Engineering. The country has produced world-famous tech giants, whose legacy of growth/expansion is unparalleled and unmatched. Apple, Microsoft, Google, Meta, IBM and many more companies have expanded and reached every part of the globe, offering their services to people and innovating everyone’s ways of life in a remarkable manner. As an aspiring student, studying in the USA wouldn’t be a mere venture but a one-of-a-kind educational experience.

The aforementioned university further adds to my decision because it has a special programme for Computer Science students. The university focuses on theoretical knowledge as well as field-based work, wherein students would have the opportunity of visiting historically relevant sites, like Silicon Valley, and learn about the discipline/industry/field with profound insights and understandings. The course-structure is quite practically oriented, when it comes to the actual applications of skills to accomplish real-world tasks. Such factors have led me to confirm my decision of traveling to the USA and pursuing higher studies in the aforementioned discipline.

As for my subjects and previous educational ventures, I have completed a diploma course in Plant Seedling Classification using Machine Learning and Big Mart Sales using Machine Learning, along with Data Analysis. I also received a Hackathon participation certificate. I am currently doing courses from Udemy, on Blockchain and Data Science as well. I would like to merge together my internship and project-based experiences to further elaborate upon my specific indulgences, ones that equip me well with the required knowledge-base and skill-sets for the course. I completed my internship on Plant Seedling Classification using Machine Learning. I indulged in this project with LBITS, a company that specializes in IT and digital services. It’s worth noting that my initial period was somewhat difficult, however, my supervisors and colleagues were very helpful. They clarified my doubts and helped me in a variety of ways, simultaneously providing me answers to every question I had. After having completed my internship, my supervisors further assigned me to another project. I was highly grateful for having received this opportunity, because I had to submit a mini project for the fulfillment of my academic session in college. In short, I was able to indulge in an active work-environment, wherein I learnt about the discipline with greater depth and simultaneously completed a project for the fulfillment of my graduation. I indulged in Big Mart Sales using Machine Learning with Data Analysis. It’s worth noting that I was assigned with this project because I had good analytical, learning, problem-solving and decision-making skills. My supervisors in-fact complimented my skills on data-collection and interpretation. One other noteworthy project was the Classification of Skin Cancer using Cascaded Ensembling of CNN with a team. The project was completed within a span of 6–7 months.

I also had the honour of getting a paper published, on this project, entitled Classification of Skin Cancer using Cascaded Ensembling of CNN. I want to emphasize my interest and passion to pursue higher studies in the aforementioned discipline by stating that I got placed in two MNC companies, named Hexaware and Techwave. However, I did not engage because I wanted to pursue my masters in Computer Science and develop my skills and become an individual with distinguished attributes. I’ll now briefly share a note on my extra-curricular ventures too. I was a state level kabaddi player. I worked in the NSS department for social services during college. I used to play chess during my leisurely hours and have gone on several field-trips with my seniors, for research purposes. After having completed my second year in college, I along with my friends, had become seniors in assisting or conducting field-trips. My college (JBIET) also adopted Amdapur Village, which falls close to its location. The adoption was regarding the development and education of people residing in such rural areas.

I liked taking part in cultural activities and have always remained active in assisting the college’s committee for the organization of cultural events, college-fests, and so on. Not only did I enjoy my role in managing and accomplishing tasks, but I also acknowledged the presence of diverse people, coming from varied communities, backgrounds and sharing their skills for the fulfillment of tasks. Such experiences had honed my leadership and community-building skills to significant extents. I also wish and intend to uphold certain values/principles for the future. These include the values of inclusion, unity, sustainable progress and thrust for knowledge. I believe that knowledge is power and it is always important to explore in life. One must never cease the process of learning.

Finally, I would like to briefly express my career goal, which is to keep exploring the field/discipline of Computer Science and try to come up with technologies, innovative ideas and concepts that address the issues of our present time. One such dire issue is climate change. I’m certain that with the advent of computer aided design and technology we can certainly lower our impact on nature and reduce our dependence on nonrenewable resources. My goal is to vehemently and incessantly explore the realm of Computer Science to make the world a sufficiently better place to live in.
