Data Science is a rapidly growing field that has immense significance for businesses and organizations of all sizes. It is a multidisciplinary approach to extracting insights from data through the use of advanced analytical techniques such as machine learning, predictive analytics, and data mining. By leveraging these tools, organizations are able to better understand their customers, identify opportunities for growth, optimize their operations, and ultimately improve their bottom line. Today’s world is heavily reliant on data, making it crucial to both utilize and maintain information. With the increasing number of people from diverse backgrounds connecting to the internet and creating digital profiles, the volume of data is expanding rapidly. As I gained experience through working with various organizations and partaking extracurriculars, I developed a keen interest in Data Science. Additionally, throughout my academic journey, I have maintained a record of being a diligent and accomplished student. Underneath, I shall elaborate upon my academic ventures, achievements and projects that substantiate my reason as to why I aspire to learn and establish a career in the field of Data Science.
To begin with, I find the idea of pursuing a postgraduate degree in Data Science to be both thrilling and demanding. Although I have gained a significant amount of experience by working in organizations and learning programming languages, like Python, I have decided to further my education by obtaining another postgraduate degree in the aforementioned discipline.
The United States is widely recognized as a leader in the fields of Information Technology and Data Science, having given birth to renowned companies such as Apple, Google, Microsoft, IBM and more. I am excited to visit and explore Silicon Valley, which holds great historical significance in my area of interest. Being in an environment surrounded by such successful examples is highly motivating for me. Moreover, I am thrilled at the prospect of encountering global employment and educational standards, which will provide me with valuable exposure.
In addition, I have collected relevant information about this particular university. Knowing that its curriculum is focused on practical application, allowing for hands-on projects, and that the faculty is well-prepared, has led me to believe that this country and university are the optimal choice.
The subjects I covered during my undergraduate studies included Mechanical Engineering and other similar topics. Apart from my core academic ventures, I indulged in extra-curricular courses to become a certified Safe Agile Practitioner and have received certifications for Python as well. I have done a project on Solar Water Purifier and another on Jerk-Free Braking System. I also participated in Autospark, a workshop on Automobile Mechanics & IC Engine Design organized by Horizon (A unit of MBS Group). I further worked as a co-organizer of 3D Modeling in Jnanagni 2015, for the Annual National Technical Festival and organized several events, including team-building activities at the workplace.
I have gained the experience of working in active work-environments, firstly, when I interned at the Central Institute of Tool Design, Hyderabad, where I had completed In-Plant training. My second internship was at BHEL, Hyderabad, where I completed a project-work and training on the study of manufacturing of steam turbine rotors. I have further gained work experience of 6 years, in the field of IT and Design, Development and Implementation of End-to-End ETL Developments. I worked on ETL tools such as Informatica Power Center, Informatica Cloud (IICS) and IBM DataStage. My forte is in extracting data from heterogeneous source systems like Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Netezza and flat files, along with expertise in handling development and production issues. I have also attained beneficial hands-on experiences with using SQL and Unix. I have recently started learning Python to explore a career in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, which altogether adds towards my expanse of knowledge and skills. I have received several appreciation mails in my 6 years of working in IT, which indeed is one of my biggest professional achievements till date.
Engaging in cultural activities has always been something I enjoy. During my school and college years, I regularly contributed to the planning and execution of cultural events. Apart from deriving pleasure from my involvement and meeting new people, I also imbibed valuable lessons in leadership, cooperation, accountability, collaboration, and modesty from these experiences. These are the values I strive to maintain in my future endeavors.
I firmly believe in the power of hope and view failures as valuable learning opportunities. This outlook has taught me to approach obstacles with a positive attitude and persevere through them. I also possess an adventurous spirit and thrive when faced with challenging situations. I have always sought out novel experiences and growth-oriented environments to expand my knowledge and skill-set. With this value-base and determination to always keep on exploring/learning, I shall place all due effort to excel in whatever I pursue, especially in the discipline of Data Science.
India is slowly emerging as a frontrunner in IT infrastructure and a data-driven economy. Consequently, there is a pressing demand for data experts across various domains. Given my interest and the potential of the field, I am confident that my research could make a significant contribution. I am enthusiastic about the future of my country and aspire to leverage my abilities and education to contribute to its development.
