Name:………………………………………..
Course: MENG in Robotics and Intelligent Autonomous Systems
University: University of Cincinnati
Country: USA
Robotics and Intelligent Autonomous Systems (RIAS) are rapidly emerging technologies that are revolutionizing the way we live and work. RIAS can be defined as the combination of robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems for performing complex tasks. The advances in RIAS are making it possible for robots to autonomously perform a variety of tasks, from simple repetitive functions to complex, decision-making tasks.
Automation occupies a prime position in current manufacturing practices with intelligent robots taking precedence over human labor. There are decided advantages to such systems and it is not surprising that the demand is growing. As a qualified mechanical engineer I feel that there are ample opportunities in this area. I feel that a Masters in robotics and intelligent autonomous systems course would considerably augment my skills and give me the capability to work in advanced technology companies.
I have completed the mechanical engineering degree course in 2022 with an overall CGPA of 9.3. Even as I studied mechanical engineering I took a deep interest in robotics. Now, I would like to study in detail about robotics and how robots are designed and interfaced with electronics components and managed through intelligent programming, their role in current and future manufacturing and also in other areas such as healthcare and agriculture.
This program is the right one for me inasmuch as it incorporates current state of technology into the curriculum. The course starts with the basics and then proceeds to advanced concepts. The course includes lectures and seminars along with practical project work. Students are evaluated regularly to test their knowledge levels. The course is systematic and modular and students can choose electives in which to specialize.
Why this university
The University of Cincinnati enjoys a reputation for high standards of quality education especially in robotics and automation. It is old and well established. It has the finest facilities by way of experienced faculty members and labs as well as workshops where students can work on complex projects. The library is well stocked with books and journals and the atmosphere is calm and conducive for studies. Students from all over the world study here in harmony and form bonds of friendship. Its degrees are recognized and accepted by employers since graduates show exceptional capabilities.
Classes/projects
I took part in the National Workshop on Futuristic Perspectives on Robotics & Automation in 2020. I joined the National Level Training Program lasting 7 days on Vibration Based Product Quality and Tool Condition Monitoring System in Advanced Manufacturing. As a matter of personal interest I joined the APSSDC course on CNC Turning, Milling and Welding.
As part of studies I did several projects. I presented a poster on Nuclear Energy Emitted by Radio-active Element U-235. I was part of a team that worked on fabricating a prosthetic arm using 3-D printing technology. My chief project was Investigation of Tensile Strength and Hardness of Aluminum Reinforced with 5% and 10% Silicon Carbide using Stir Casting Technology. I also did a small project on fabrication of panels for acoustic applications using 3D printing technology.
I have a certificate in English language proficiency from the Cambridge University. I have another certificate in business English from the same university.
Moreover, I am a kabaddi player and have taken part in inter-college competitions.
Leadership/community experience
I completed graduation with first class with distinction. Due to a spinal surgery I could not appear for the third year 1st semester exam but I cleared the backlog and maintained a track record of high scores.
I have taken part in national level competition Srujanankura with a poster presentation and project expo. As part of community services I have taken part in Swachch Bharat events organized by our college. I have a deeply inquiring mind and am curious about things directly touching my areas of study. I like to innovate and think of new solutions. I am committed to learning about robotics and will put in my best efforts to succeed in this course and justify the university granting admission to me.
Career goals and how this course will help
I am a trained engineer and this course will add another level of capability that will enable me to get a good job as a production head or a designer in manufacturing facilities in India. India has a big automotive sector and also a machine tools industry and plastics industry. There are heavy engineering industries such as railways coach building. The opportunities are unlimited for highly qualified professionals. This course, by giving me advanced skills, will help to get me into a top level job and assure my future success.
