Computer Science plays a vital role in the field of Mechanical Engineering, as it provides the necessary tools for creating and manipulating complex data. By utilizing sophisticated software, engineers can perform calculations and simulations to analyze the performance of mechanical systems, regulate their behavior under different conditions, and develop innovative solutions to engineering problems.

In one way it is a good thing for me that I happened to land a job as an application developer in Accenture Solutions. It got me started as a Pega developer after I received training in the use of that software. It sparked further interest to study computer science and make it my career. There are more opportunities in this segment. I have therefore decided to pursue post graduate course in computer science at the Birmingham City University to equip myself with skills.

I completed B.Tech studies in mechanical engineering in 2021 with an overall score of 7.18 CGPA. I now wish to study computer science and make it my future career. I would like to focus on systematic study of database management, SQL, programming, developing software for large enterprises, systems analysis and design and the use of artificial intelligence tools.

This program is ideal for me. It starts by giving students a solid foundation in the basics. It then proceeds at a rapid pace covering a lot of ground in a short space of time. The method of teaching involves classroom lectures, tutorials and guest lectures as well as practical projects. Students are evaluated consistently to ensure they are up to the mark.

The Birmingham City University is my first choice since it is one of the top ranked universities for studies in computer sciences. Its faculty is drawn from academia and industry and the faculty members are known for their research as well as contributions to industry. I am sure that it will be a privilege to learn from masters. The degrees conferred by the university are held in regard by employers since graduates of this university show capability at work. Students from all over the world study here and that gives me a chance to build relationships and broaden my vision.

Experience

I am at present employed by Accenture Solutions as an applications developer. I work as a Pega developer for their client, a National Australian Bank. I am here since the past 13 months.

Prior to this I interned at Thermal Systems Hyderabad Pvt. Ltd. I worked on a small project here as part of my studies.

Classes/projects

I took on a course to become a Pega Certified System Architect followed by another course as a Pega Certified Senior System Architect.

I have done two projects as part of engineering studies. One was Machinability Studies on Steel EN-24. The other was a mini project, Design of Wind Turbine.

Leadership/community experience

I was a member of the National Cadet Corps B and have a certificate. I have taken part in several cricket tournaments during my college days. I also work as a volunteer in a local NGO that is engaged in helping rural people with education and healthcare.

I am ambitious and set the bar high. I work hard to achieve my goals and love to take on challenges. The present course will be a challenge but I am sure I will do well in studies.

Career goals

Indian businesses including the mechanical engineering related companies are growing fast and are modernizing their IT setup. They need highly qualified IT professionals. I am sure to get a job in any of these large Indian corporations where I can use my education. India is also a global IT hub, with many global companies carryout operations here. These international companies also need highly qualified computer science professionals to automate their processes. I can expect a lucrative job.
