Health data analytics has immense importance in the healthcare sector. It enables health care providers and researchers to identify patterns, track trends, and monitor progress in patient care. This can help us better understand and address the underlying causes of health issues. I am a qualified dental surgeon and have been working since July 2021. Currently, I am a general dentist at the Padmavathi Dental Clinic. I am in overall charge of dental health monitoring, treatment of oral diseases and dental procedures. I am competent at what I do but there are other areas connected with my work in which I feel that there is much to be learnt. Analytics is at the core of operations in businesses and in management of operations. This is one area where I feel the need to acquire knowledge and skills to complement my professional skills. It will help me to work better in a senior position and give my best to patients and to the hospital. This is what brings me to this institution and this course.

I would like to study health data analytics and go deeper into topics such as use of information technologies in health industry, understanding and managing databases, generating reports and analyzing data to derive intelligence that can be of practical use, some business management, systems analysis and related topics.

This program is necessary for me since almost all medium and large hospitals conduct operations based on a solid core of IT. The program covers topics relevant to my career and it gives systematic training starting with a foundational introduction to data and analytics. The progress is rapid and teaching is conducted through seminars, classroom lectures, tutorials and practical project work. Students are evaluated on an ongoing basis to test that they are up to speed.

The University of Texas is my first choice since it is an old, well established and highly respected institution of higher learning in the USA. It also ranks high in the global index of universities, particularly where data analytics is concerned. Its faculty members are respected for their knowledge and outstanding contributions to increase the knowledge pool. The university offers a modular course structure that incorporates current advances in this field. Its degrees are valued since it gives excellent training and graduates show exceptional capabilities at work. It will be a privilege for me to graduate from this university.

I completed the BDS Course in 2020 with an overall score of 65%. I then interned at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health from July 2021 to August 2021 where I assisted senior dentists and collaborated with the department of endocrinology to conduct a screening camp. I joined Vokkaligara Sangha Dental College & Hospital in December 2021 and worked here for a year as a dental intern. I diagnosed over 500 patients, treated them carried out various dental procedures and assisted resident orthodontists. I joined Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in March 2022 and worked here till May 2022, completing shadowing and observership under senior dentists. I also assisted senior dentists in periodontal procedures and advanced laser treatments.

I was a bright student in college and won the best poster presentation award in the National Undergraduate Dental Students Convention of IAOMR-2018 for my topic Nicotine Vaccine Against Tobacco Addiction — A New Life From the Dead End. I won the best paper presentation award in the 46th Karnataka State and the 5th Interstate Dental Conference 2018 for my topic Cryosurgery in Treatment of Oral Lesions.

I am thoroughly familiar with all dental radiographic procedures and understand all procedures related to oral health and hygiene. I have an innate desire to serve people and to improve things. This proposed course will give me the knowledge to help me to bring about improvements and changes as well as to do my job better. I will put in 100% efforts to get a high score here and justify the university granting admission to me.

There are many large dental hospitals and new ones are on the way given the population’s needs in India. I am sure that with this degree under my belt I will be able to get a position as a senior dentist and be put in charge of managing the operations. I already possess professional skills in dentistry. This health data analytics course will help me to become a better administrator and manager, and to utilize the IT infrastructure to the best advantage. My advancement will all be due to this course and I will always be grateful to the university.
