A fascinating discipline, computer science has an ever-growing impact on our lives. It is now an inseparable part of almost every sector of human society. These days, IT is practically used in all facets of daily living. I am convinced that computer science and technology will play a determinative role in the future. Computers have always piqued my interest since a young age.

I enrolled at the Indian Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, to pursue my passion and study computer systems and science intensively. Subsequently, I completed my course and was awarded a B. Tech degree in Computer Science in 2014. I then joined the workforce as a fresh graduate. Today, I can say that my career experiences have helped me to develop a greater understanding of my own priorities and long-term goals. I believe I am at a stage in my life where I need to further explore my interest in computer science academically.

Why MS in Computer Science at this university?

Studying the MS Computer Science program is the best next step in my life. I have come to this conclusion after a lot of thought and research. Pursuing this course at your esteemed institution would help me inch closer to my goal of becoming an IT specialist. I would be able to get formal training in the subject at the post-graduate level. It would not only upgrade my understanding of the subject but will also grant me the qualification to apply for specialist and high-paying positions in renowned IT firms.

The course is aligned to all my interest areas such as algorithms, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data mining, computer architecture, graphics, networks, computer vision, distributed systems etc. Moreover, since the course itself is broad in its purview, it will help me multi-specialize in several sub-domains. With the help of my education, I will be able to choose any career path of my liking and won’t be restricted by specialization.

Why this country?

The country is known for having a large proportion of international students and so it is a welcoming proposition to be studying here. My university experience will be a multicultural one owing to this diversity. To study here would be an honour. I would also be delighted to have the opportunity to learn by observing and meeting like-minded people from around the world.

Classes/ Projects

I partook in a lot of other activities besides academics during my college years. Through my college projects, seminars and workshops, I was able to gain a fundamental understanding of computer science, which made me feel ready and confident to advance my interests. Over the years I have completed several certificate courses. One of them is the Python developer certification which was offered to me by the University of Michigan. I am also an Appian certified associate developer.

Experiences

Cumulatively, I have a little over 8 years of experience under my belt. I have been working as a senior Appian developer for the last 4 years. Previously, I have also worked with unicorns like Byju’s. My collective years in these organisations have led to me growing tremendously as an individual and a professional. I am privileged and pleased to have been part of them. My time with seniors, colleagues and juniors have definitely carved me into the person I am today.

Leadership/Community experience

I’ve always appreciated taking part in team activities. I frequently assisted in the organization of events hosted by my school as well as college. In school, I was a CBSE national level hockey player. Besides this, I have also continued my hobbies of playing basketball and football to this day. I believe I am somebody who dedicates their best to everything they do. I also learnt key lessons about leadership, unity, responsibility, teamwork, and humility from this experience. These are the principles I aspire to uphold in the future.

My Values

I believe that being in excellent physical and mental health is essential for being our best selves. I favor all-encompassing growth. I also have a strong sense of adventure and think that pushing oneself outside of one’s comfort zone is what leads to development. In an effort to broaden my knowledge and awareness, I’ve always made an effort to expose myself to a variety of circumstances and environments. Being able to pursue my interests in a global context would be something I would consider a great honor.

Career Goals

India’s IT industry is on the rise. New developments are recorded every day. I believe there is a need for trained IT specialists in our country- that has so much potential to be a world leader. I hope to offer my skills and technical knowledge from my education to this growth. My study abroad would expose me to international working standards and aid in my development as a professional. I would also have a fantastic opportunity to meet individuals from all over the world in this domain. I hope to someday return home and put what I’ve learned to use for the advancement of my own nation.
